Heart 5 - Acupuncture to Calm the Mind
In Chinese Medicine, the heart and mind are considered interconnected, unlike the Western notion of them being separate entities. The heart is believed to house the mind and spirit, influencing mental and emotional states. To maintain a healthy heart, it is crucial to care for emotions. Excessive thinking and worry can weaken the heart’s functions, leading to symptoms like anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia. Acupuncture, specifically the point Heart 5 (“Tong Li”), located on the underside of the arm, can help calm the mind and regulate heart rhythm. This acupuncture point is vital for addressing various symptoms, including palpitations, chest pain, and emotional disturbances. In our fast-paced world, where external stimuli can impact our organs, giving attention to the heart through acupuncture or Chinese herbs can contribute to overall well-being.
Tong Li Heart 5 is located on the underside of the arm, about a finger width from the wrist crease, just inside the tendon that runs along the Pinky finger side.
